“Once saved, always saved” is also known as “the security of the believer”.

It is a doctrine that has been argued pro and con for centuries. Those who do not believe in the security of the believer, believe that a saved believer can intentionally turn away from God and sin so gravely that God will take back their salvation and the consequence will be condemnation in eternal hell, just as though that person was never saved.

Personally, I believe strongly in the alternative view, the security of the believer.

Once we are born again, can we be unborn? I don’t think so. Can a baby be unborn? I don’t think so. Can we sin enough to become unborn? I don’t think so BECAUSE IF WE WERE TRULY BORN AGAIN we would not and could not do that!

1 John 3:9 says No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they CANNOT go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 1 John 3:9

security of the believer

We know that we are saved by grace, not works. (Ephesians 2:8)

As demonstrated by the graphic to the left, if our works did not save us, how can our works cause us to become “un-saved”? How can our works annul our salvation?

We are sealed IN Christ until the day of redemption.

Thanks be to God!
